Transience

Hi guys..from last few weeks I had occasion to focus on my paintings and art absolutely, without any doubt it’s one of the most creative times since I have finished my uni and also it’s most progressive period in my career as well. The ‘Judgement of Jesus’ will be taking a part of exhibition in London on the 24th of November 2013 at POSK in London. If you have sometime feel invited!
Another very good news, is that I am going to publish small book of my one eye paintings, which will be presented at this event, the opportunity to purchase the book will be also online.
Ok, let’s do some work, so I wish to present the newest piece and its progress picture.
Title ‘Transience’ refers to painting of a painter who was teaching me painting when I have started think of art- painting as the way of leaving. It was thirteen years ago, since then I always paint. The meaning of the picture is quite simple. The hat is the symbol of the sun going down. The sun which will be born on the next day with new plans, thoughts and fresh soul.

To make this painting I was inspired by the fact of great masters paintings which caught my eye (mind). It is the figure of Virgin Marry holding the baby. Like every master was painting mother with baby, was it Jesus with Merry, or the other child on the arms of his mother, it is sort of metaphor, or polemic to their paintings,  timeless connectivity linked to their art reflected by me in One Eye. Mother Maria is the metaphor of the peace and morality in comperance with the metaphor of the title God Save the Queen, punk rock band Sex Pistols, the freedom and abandonment of the moral rules.
I just wish to announce that One Eye Jesus is going to be exhibited in London in November the 24 at UNESCO Exhibition.

Rafael Potempa  (ur. 1986)-młody, utalentowany artysta, specjalizujący się w sztuce wizualnej, głównie ilustracji i malarstwie. Dyplom artysty uzyskał na Uniwersytecie w Huddersfield w 2011 na wydziale Sztuki Współczesnej w Koncepcie (Contemproary Art in Context).

Jako artysta, zainteresowany jest malarstwem tradycyjnym jak i współczesnym, czego wpływy można odnotować w jego dziełach. Rafael miłuje się w infinito, czyli dziele wygladającym na nieskończone, nurt  zapoczontkowany przez renesansowego malarza  Tycjan (1488- 1576), kontynuowany przez J. Tintoretto(1518- 1549) i innych. Głównie używa farby akrylowej, jak tłumaczy:- ona poprostu schnie szybciej. Malararstwo, które prezentuje artysta  przepełnione jest groteski,kreskówkowej ironii oraz metafory zapożyczonej ze świata współczesnego. Do jego ulubionych tematów należą jednookie postacie wyglądające jak cyklopy, przedstawione w portretowej postawie, twarzą do widza. Postacie zazwyczaj są ozdobione w artefakty, odzwierciedlające przeżycie artysty; beret francuski- wizytaw w Paryżu, malarstwo W. Kandinskiego- portret W. Kandinskiego, pasiaki z Auschwitz- obozy koncentracyjne oraz masowa zagłada ludzka, itp. Swoimi dziełami, chce zwrócić uwagę widza, na rzeczy, które są ważne, a stają się obojetne na codzień poprzez przyzwyczajenie do nich.

Rafael Potempa (born in 1986) - is talented and young artist, specialising in visual art in context, mainly illustration and painting. Degree of Art Rafael has gained at Huddersfield University in 2011 (Bachelor of Art Hones).

As the artist, he is interested in traditional and contemporary painting, which both influences him noticeable.  Rafael uses infinito, which is a piece of art looking like an unfinished, stream invented by renaissance painter Titian (1488-1576), continued by J. Tintoretto (1518- 1549) and others. To paint, artist uses acrylics, he explains: - it just drys quicker. The painting represented by artist is filled full of grotesque, cartoonish irony and metaphor borrowed of the contemporary world. One of his favourite subjects, being one eye characters which remind him of Cyclops’s, presented in portrait positions, facing to the viewer. Creatures usually are dressed up in artefacts, which reflect life experiences of artist: beret – visit in Paris, painting of W. Kandinsky (1866-1944)- portrait of W. Kandinsky, white strips from Auschwitz- concentration camps and mass extermination, etc. By his art, the artist wants to focus the attention of viewer on to things which are important, but become missed in everyday life.

Hello everybody.. that is historical moment! I have an exhibition in Polish Millennium House in Birmingham and this is my flyer of it, which I have designed by myself!

Uff.. tego pewnie znacie. Jest to nasz wielki fizyk i myśliciel, namalowany w dość ekspresjonistycznej formie. Forma oddaje wrażenie braku materialności oraz niepokalanego pojęcia fizycznego. Nigdy nie byłeś ścisłowcem, ale zawsze będę malarzem, jedynie w taki sposób mogę oddać hołd naszemu wielkiemu myślicielowi i fizykowi Albercikowi:)!

Jednooka ekspansja..

Jednooka ekspansja to rozszeżenie i skupienie się mojej uwagi na Jednookich, które widzę, że zapadają w pamieć.

Jednooka Viktoriańska Madam, jest poświęcona działowi wkitoriańskiemu. Zainspirowany do namalowania tego obrazu, zostałem po tym jak zobaczyłem ile modnych rzeczy pochodzi z czasów wiktoriańskich, a że obecnie stacjonuję w Wielkiej Brytanii,  w kraju, w którym ten styl nadal jest widoczny w budynkach. Postanowiłem skorzystać z wynalazków mody tamtego okresu i wpleść jego elementy w odzież Jednookiej Madame.

Woman,  was always an inspiration and muse for an artist. As an artist myself I think it's still very popular and undiscovered field to investigate.
My pictures represents expressionist way of an approach to painting on vinyl instead of  using canvas.

Syria..call for help!

1st and 2nd World War, Vietnam, Iraq and ..North Korea and Syria now..that is just some samples of many others.. The human kind is the only one which kills for other benefits than food..
I have painted this piece as the reaction to facts of killing innocent civilians, children, women.
It's atomic bomb with mushroom blow inside in expressive way. Colours reflect blood, a call for help and reaction!
 

I have also focused on the painting site of my visual art, therefore all my small clay pieces were painted on different size and colour of canvas with surreal and bizarre background.

Uni time..long time ago, but very creative. 2008-2011 BA University of Huddersfield

I wish to post some of my art done at university in Huddersfield, because it was never done properly. I wish to start of  the fact that I am originally Polish and come from Chorzow city, down south. I moved to England six and half year ago. I always wanted study art, experiment and investigate painting and drawing, sculpture and visual arts.
I managed to gain degree in Art in Context (Bachelor of Art with grade 2.1) and I think that like for the foreign person I did very well;)..
But..that was just the beginning. At the university I was pushing my art limits to the end, from an aesthetic wort until non aesthetic 'ready-made' theme of M.Duchamp.
As my main idea during the university period I was always to look at the aesthetic concept and confronting it against non aesthetic art.
I created a few sculptures of Icons of  the modern ready-made art such as Brillo Box of A.Warhol, Fountain of M. Duchamp, and  The oak tree of M.Craig- Martin.

Do stworzenia tej ilustracji zostałem zainspirowany przez mojego dobrego przyjaciela i jego dziewczynę Yuki z Rumunii.

Jednooka sesja..czyli rysownik jak ręka..

Witam!
Muszę się  podzielić tym faktem, jak ważny jest dla artysty rysownik.
Kilka tygodni temu w pracy, studio tatuażu, zginął mi rysownik..i powiem szczerze, że było to przeżycie dla mnie gorsze od przeżycia paskudnej anginy, albo utraty rzeczy nabytej, takiej jak telefon.
Przeglądnąłem go po fakcie odzyskania i stwierdziłem, że bardzo dużo moich szkiców, rysunków i zapisów jest dla mnie bardzo ważnych, nawet intymnych, więc po tygodniu cieżkich poszukiwań znalazł się z nie nacka..stwierdziłem, że to opaczność nade mną czówa!
Obowiązkowo postanowiłem się z Wam moim rysownikiem z małymi opisami..:))W razie czego, jak bym go zgubił jeszcze raz..;)


Wracając do tematu "One Eye" stworzyłem kolejny rusynek, który wykorzystam na obraz w niedalekiej przyszłości.

 A oto prezentuję dwa dzieła zrobione w digitalu ( Photoshop), w ramach walki z piękności, a w zasadzie odnajdowaniu jej po przez nowe media.
Myślę, że eksperymentowo się zaczęło i nie skończy, to dopiero początek..:)

Nie pisałem dość długo, ale to się teraz zmieni. Chciałem zaprezentować moje winyle i jednookie w troszkę lepszym wydaniu ( profejonaljen sesji zdjęciowej). Podziękowania dla Kacpra Konstańczaka, za poświęcony czas na fotografowaniu:)!
